It’s a dazzling outdoor, nighttime light experience, within the historic grounds of the New York Botanical Garden. The classic holiday film comes to life with projections and sculptures, creating an exciting journey for all ages.
Disney Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas Light Trail is appropriate for all ages.
The Light Trail can take 45 minutes to one hour to complete. Once you enter the Light Trail, you are free to explore, following the one-way path. Once you leave the Light Trail, there is no re-entry. Be prepared for an outdoor experience, and plan your attire accordingly. Wear comfortable shoes!
The Light Trail is experienced entirely on foot. It’s approximately a 7–10 minute walk from the ticket center to the beginning of the trail. The trail itself can take 45 minutes to 1 hour to complete. It is paved, with a few areas that are naturally uneven or sloped.
The Light Trail is paved and very stroller-friendly, so visitors are highly encouraged to bring strollers for children as well as mobility devices, as needed.
The Light Trail is designed to take you closely past some of the most memorable and favorite characters and scenes from the story. The path is designed to provide ample opportunity for capturing each special moment on camera. Drones, tripods, selfie sticks, and professional photo equipment are strictly prohibited.
The Light Trail is designed so that visitors can pass by each character and scene closely. Visitors are required to follow one-way flow on the Light Trail path and are prohibited from entering the designed areas or touching the sculptures.

During your visit, you may be videotaped, photographed, or recorded by the New York Botanical Garden and Disney Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas Light Trail’s marketing agency. By entering the light trail, you grant permission for use of your image by these parties.
You can purchase tickets online here. Advance reservations are strongly recommended. Tickets may be available onsite “day of” but are not guaranteed, as capacity is limited. Beware of buying tickets through unapproved third-party resellers, as they may not be authentic. If you purchased tickets through an unauthorized source, we will not be able to guarantee your entry.

Yes, everyone over the age of 2 needs a ticket to enter.
We recommend using your smartphone for ticket scanning, to reduce paper waste. Printed tickets, with an active barcode, are accepted.
Tickets are nonrefundable and non-exchangeable.
Ticket holders will be notified if the event must be canceled due to extreme weather conditions jeopardizing the safety of the patrons, staff, and/or exhibit. Notification will provide direction on related refunds or exchanges.
A Timed-Entry Ticket permits you to enter during specific times in order to alleviate overcrowding and ensure a more pleasant experience for all guests. Please plan to arrive at least 15 minutes before your ticketed entry time. Late arrivals may not be accommodated.
A Flex Ticket allows you to start the Light Trail at any time during your selected booking day. Arrivals after the final timed-entry slot on your selected booking day may not be accommodated.

The event is located at the New York Botanical Garden, at 2900 Southern Blvd. in the Bronx. Whether you’re hopping on the subway, taking a short trip via Metro-North to the Botanical Garden stop, or getting there by car, NYBG is easy to reach! Parking at NYBG is limited, so consider taking public transit or a car service to avoid parking delays.

Arriving by Metro-North Railroad? Use the Mosholu Entrance, located directly across from the station. NYBG is just 20 minutes from Grand Central Terminal in Manhattan. Take the Metro North Harlem local line to Botanical Garden Station.
Arriving by subway or bus? Take the B, D, or 4 train to Bedford Park Blvd., or any number of local buses, to arrive at the Garden’s Mosholu Entrance.
Arriving by car? Set your GPS to the Garden’s Main Entrance Parking Lot (2900 Southern Blvd.) or the NYBG Parking Garage (401 Bedford Park Blvd.) across from the Mosholu Entrance. Please be aware that parking at NYBG is limited, so consider taking public transit or a ride share to avoid parking delays.
Limited parking is available for $22 on a first-come, first-served basis at the Garden’s Main Entrance (2900 Southern Blvd.) and at the NYBG Parking Garage (401 Bedford Park Blvd.) across from the Mosholu Entrance. On some peak evenings, you may be directed to park at overflow parking facilities. Follow all signs and directions from Garden personnel. Please consider taking public transit or a car service to avoid parking delays.
All drop-offs and pick-ups must be made outside the Main Entrance located at 2900 Southern Boulevard, or across the street from the Mosholu Entrance at the Metro-North station.
Visitors arriving by car will enter the Main Gate at 2900 Southern Boulevard. Pedestrians may enter the Garden via either the Main Gate or Mosholu Gate, where the Metro-North station is located. The Garden’s East Gate is not open during this experience.
Visitors begin their journey to the Light Trail from the Visitor Center. Your ticket will be checked at three points along the way.
Plan to arrive at NYBG at least 15 minutes before your ticketed time.
If you arrive early for your designated time, you are welcome to wait in the Visitor Center area. If you arrive late for your designated time, please check in with a ticketing attendant at the Visitor Center. We will do our best to accommodate you, but we cannot guarantee it.
The Light Trail is paved, but there are a few areas where the terrain is naturally uneven or sloped. Wheelchairs are not available for loan. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own mobility devices. This multisensory experience includes changes in light levels, bright colors, flashing lights, and music.
Yes, visitors may bring their own strollers. Strollers are not available to rent.
Restrooms are located at the Visitor Center entrance and midway on the path to/from the Light Trail. There are no restrooms within the Light Trail. Visitors are strongly encouraged to visit the restrooms before entering the Light Trail.
Yes! Light snacks, drinks, sweet treats, and kid-friendly fare will be available. No outside food or beverages are permitted on grounds.
Oversized bags are prohibited, and there are no bag-check facilities. NYBG Security Managers conduct intermittent bag checks at Garden entry points.
Only service animals are allowed at the New York Botanical Garden; pets are not allowed on Garden grounds. Service animals are permitted in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Service animals are defined by the ADA as dogs that are individually trained to do work or perform tasks for people with disabilities. The work or task a dog has been trained to provide must be directly related to the person’s disability. Dogs whose sole function is to provide comfort or emotional support do not qualify as service animals under the ADA.
There is no smoking or vaping on Garden grounds, including the parking lots.
You may come dressed up for the occasion; however, costume props are not allowed. Full-face masks or covering are not permitted.
Your Disney Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas Light Trail ticket provides access only to the experience footprint. The rest of the Garden is not accessible to Light Trail ticket holders.
